RIT include more organic food options for healthier dietary choices.

We are what we eat. Every day we consume food and drinks featuring hundreds of different brands, flavors and ingredients. Many of these ingredients can hardly be pronounced, let alone understood by the average consumer. What health effect do they have on our bodies, and have they been studied thoroughly? For many the answer is we don't really know, and the studies are incomplete. This is worrisome as these chemical ingredients make their way to our brains, hearts, lungs, and every square inch of our bodies.

Most of these man-made chemicals added to fruits and vegetables originate at the farms where these foods are grown. They often take the form of sprayed pesticides and herbicides with the purpose of making crops resistant to pests and insects. They are effective at doing so but remain on the fruits and vegetables later consumed by humans. These chemicals have not been thoroughly studied and may cause health problems for the consumer. Organic foods are certified to NOT contain these chemical residues, and therefore more healthy and natural to eat.

We are proposing RIT include more organic food options for all of its dining locations so students have the opportunity to make healthier dietary choices.
