Gun violence in the US is a Human Rights issue, not a political issue

We need to reframe gun violence. We need to stop the circular and blame laden conversation on gun control and the second amendment. This is no longer a political issue, this is a human rights issue. People are dying, in the thousands as we watch and do nothing. Everyone is to blame. This is not about the views of Republicans vs. Democrats or gun owners vs. gun abolitionists. This is about human life. You are elected members of Congress. If you don't have the power to make change then who does? If you don't have the tools and resources to spark healthy debate, to find solutions, to positively impact the lives of American citizens then who does? Reframe the argument, find common ground, 'come together' as you've asked the American people to do time and time again after each one of these senseless tragedies. Put personal bias, money, power and greed aside in favour of an immediate and impactful solution. You have a real chance and a real responsibility to make change. So do it. Not for your political party, not for your own ego, but for all of us. Do it now. Not after the next one, or the next one, or the one after that. Please, do something now.
