A recent three year public consultation process on the future of District Park in North Manly, conducted by Warringah Council, determined overwhelmingly that Warringah Golf Club, located in the park, should remain as an 18 hole golf course.
With the amalgamation of Warringah, Manly and Pittwater councils to form Northern Beaches Council, the interim administration, led by Dick Persson, has decided to review the community supported District Park Plan of Management, already passed by Warringah Council, with the possibility of converting some or all of the golf course into sports fields.
Golf is played all year round at Warringah with upwards of 65,000 rounds annually. Warringah is a public golf course which is flat and short making an affordable round of golf accessible and enjoyable to players of all ages and abilities.
During the 80 years the club has been in existence, many hundreds of trees have been planted and cared for on the course. The club formed a Creek Care group many years ago who meet every Friday to manage weeds, tidy and maintain the natural environment of Manly and Brookvale creeks which run through the course.
Sign this petition to let Dick Persson know you support a sports facility that preserves a natural environment and is used all year round by all members of the community.
