Kaylee Schnakenberg started this petition to Senator Dianne Feinstein and

The Violence Against Women Act is a federal law that was passed 25 years ago by president Bill Clinton. The law works to protect women from domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. Sense then there have been many senators that have voted against the VAWA. It is very important that we make sure that the people in office vote to keep the Violence Against Women act in action. Voting for people who vote against acts like the VAWA is voting for someone who doesn't respect basic human rights.

The Violence Against Women Act is very important to me for many of reasons. As a women living in the US you should not have to feel scared to live life. If you go to the police to report a sexual assault as a women the first thing that they ask you is what were you wearing? and was there anything else you could have done to stop him? These are examples of women being used as a scapegoat. They take the victim and turn them into the perpetrator. Women should not be afraid to ask for help if something happened to her or if someone did something to her. She shouldn't have to be afraid that she is going to be blamed for what happened to her. The Violence Against Women Act works to help these situations.

By signing this petition you will be helping to fight for the Violence Against Women Act to remain a federal law. You will be fighting for the people in the senate and the people running for senator to keep voting for the Violence Against Women Act to remain active. Please use your voice to protect women and to keep them feeling safe.

Thank You,

Kaylee Schnakenberg
