The Queers are an all white, male, cis gender and heterosexual band that are billed to play in Ottawa at Maverick's bar via promoters The Diamond Mine Agency. 

This band is known for holding and perpetuating anti-Black and transmisogynist views - something that directly harms many people in our music community. 

By taking a passive stance and allowing them to play in Ottawa, we are consenting to this anti-Blackness and transmisogyny in our music scene that continues to ostracize and create unsafe spaces for different marginalized peoples, and we are actively supporting their financial success as a band so they can continue to perform and perpetuate these views in other cities without holding them accountable to their words.

We would like for Maverick's bar or The Diamond Mine Agency to put our local community first, and to not allow this band to play on February 21st 2016. 

Let's make Ottawa the city where oppressive bands don't go.
