DHS Board must allocate funds for auditorium

The Auditorium in Deerfield High School is in need of substantial upgrades as the deterioration of this area affects the entire community. The Auditorium is home to the theater, School Chest, the dance program, orchestra, band, vocal and choir groups, as well as various assemblies in which the administration communicates policies and information to the student population. Used daily by all areas of the school, and absolutely necessary to DHS, the Auditorium is in desperate need of the following upgrades:
- Designed in the 1950's, the auditorium was made with a focus on visual appeal. Acoustically, the arch of the ceiling would be more useful in the opposite direction.
- While a donation from Friends of the Arts, matched by the school, paid for the installation of speakers, relying on sound reinforcement is not good enough and there are new technologies that could give us a far better experience
- The lighting in the Auditorium is outdated
- The electrics in the space are in desperate need of being addressed
