Protect H-2B Visa Holders from Trafficking and Exploitation

Recent news

Thanks to your support, Centro de Los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. was able to hand-deliver almost 3000 signatures supporting guestworkers to the labor attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. And now, the US Departments of Labor and Homeland Security have finally issued the long-awaited comprehensive rule for the H2-B visa program! The comprehensive rule provides much-needed protections to a highly vulnerable workforce, and brings some parity to the H2-B visa program. It will lead to increased transparency amongst employers and recruiters and fair wages for both migrant and U.S. workers. And hopefully, it will prevent workers from becoming victims of human trafficking and exploitation. The H2-B program brings 66,000 foreign national workers into the U.S. every year, so this will impact a huge number of people. There is now a 60-day comment period before these rules are final, but this is a crucial step in the right direction! Stay tuned for next steps on how you can help. Thank you for your signatures, your voices, and your solidarity with migrant workers.
