Ms. Eugenia V. Guerra

President

Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College of Las Piñas

Good day!

We would like to address this open letter to your good office and ask you to reconsider and revise the contents of the DFCAMCLP President’s Advisory Number 06, series of 2020, issued last April 30, 2020 to reflect from the real conditions and situation of the students of the institution especially during this time that the Philippine Government has come up to the decision of declaration for extension of Enhanced Community Quarantine in some “high risk” areas of the country including NCR.

We ask for your compassion and understanding as we believe that the DFCAMCLP President Advisory Number 06, series of 2020 has not fully considered the real conditions, situation and welfare of the students.

Majority of the students are coming from the lower socio-economic status— the reason why most of them grab the opportunity to acquire the free quality education offered by the Institution quoting from its mission “for poor and deserving people”.

As the global pandemic COVID 19 continuous to rise, the Institution still opted to use online classes as platform for academic requirements and compliance which caused academic frustrations to the students.

Insufficiency of mobile data, poor access connections, unavailability of laptops, computers or even mobile phones and lack of means to consistently acquire pertinent services were just a few of the reasons why some of the students were unable to take part effectively and efficiently in online activities.

Our students deserve an education that will not compromise their physical, emotional and mental health, safety and security and most importantly responsive to the needs of our nation.

For these reasons, we are imploring you to suspend online classes and activities until our environment becomes conducive for effective learning for the sake of DFCAMCLP Community, especially the students and their families who are now greatly affected by this crisis.

Sincerely yours,

City Scholars

Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College of Las Piñas
