Why this petition matters

We have grave concerns about the speed limits along Exeter Road from the B3193 (Chudleigh Road) to the turnoff to Teigngrace (Bletchford Brook} regarding the safety of all pedestrians, including children. We would like the following implemented:-
- a 20 mph speed limit from the traffic lights at the crossroad of Exeter Road & Chudleigh Road for the benefit of the children attending the newly built Kingsteignton School (on the Redrow estate).
- installation of street lighting along Exeter Road from the above junction to Broadway Road.
- Erection of 20mph speed limit signs on both roads into the Redrow estate.
- A maximum of 30mph from the Broadway Road junction to the turnoff to Teigngrace.
- The erection of ‘Pedestrian’ signs on both sides of the River Teign bridge.
- And ‘School’ signs on both Exeter Road & Chudleigh Road.
Reasons: by Spring 2021 there will be 281 houses completed on the Redrow estate for which the majority are young families. The children attend Kingsteignton & Teign Schools.
Research from RoSPA states "in 2016 there were 23,550 pedestrian casualties in Britain of which 5,998 were children aged 0-15." In 2018 Teignbridge was the 2nd highest DC in Devon for seriously injured pedestrians.
