Around Rs.3600crores will be spent on this project, thats a huge amount and hard earned money of tax payers. The one supporting the project, majority are non tax payers. We can wisely use this money in other things like- education, electricity plant, food, sauchalay, swach bharat, etc etc..
Shivaji Maharaj died for people's sake, and now if he would have been alive, he would not promote statues over eradicating poverty first .. And talking about giving tribute to him, he would not care about the height of the statue, I am sure there are also other means to it...
And those who say - can't we do this little thing for him.. My question is what about the existing monuments, forts of him, did u even see their conditions, this kind of respect you give? Y are u not fighting to improve the condition there first?
Apart from this The project will destroy around 110 km of coastal area near Mumbai, natural aquatic, marine eco-system and it will affect the livelihood of traditional fishermen..
And if statues are the sign of giving tribute, then I think the arabian sea should be full of our warrior's, soldier's statues (why be biased?)...
