To save joggers Park from BMC

Joggers Park was developed by Lokhandwala group, along with the help of local residents, especially senior citizens. Sir Andrade, a social worker helped mobilise many residents to volunteer in making of the park. For over 30 years, joggers Park has been a jewel of bandra - a beloved one of the residents and visitors alike.
On February 1st, 2017 BMC notified the committe that it will be taking the park over and running it here on.
This has created a huge uproar among those who regularly access the park. There is the natural concern of losing the worldclass standard of the park once taken over by BMC. This concern is valid as BMC has already shut down the ticket office, cutting the funding to the park. There is no clarity on the amount of funds that will be directed to the park here on.
The park has been maintained beautifully by the committee so far. It's a wheelchair accessible, children friendly Park, mainly used for exercise by everyone. There is a beautiful pond in the middle of the park. In the evening, it also serves as a place to take romantic walks by young lovers.
It is more than just a park. It is a community of people, connected by their love for bandra and the park.
One can't help but also be suspicious of the fact that once taken over by BMC, old conversations on connecting Carter Road to band stand might come up, which has a whole lot of environmental and livelihood (of kolis) related issues.
We collectively demand that the park be maintained by the lokhandwala committee the way it currently is, and BMC finds another lowly maintained garden to put its funds and efforts in.
