Stop the destruction of MANGROVES in Mumbai!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

The destruction of mangroves cannot possibly be warranted by any development project no matter how grand and/or promising. Mangroves are a complex ecosystem that develop over thousands of years and cannot in any way be replaced by a species that have a life expectancy of 50-90 years (humans, govt. of India, MMRDA).

Destroying valuable areas of rich mangroves is equivalent to destruction of human life, safety and health not to mention the millions of animals, birds, insects and fish whose lives it will destroy. It will impact the prevalence of diseases (increased), frequency of flooding (increased) and the biodiversity (decreased) of our city. Unless we, as citizens of the world, are provided with 100% foolproof, intact, undoubtable, unquestionable data and reasoning for this destruction, we cannot stand by and allow it to happen.
