Private Radio Channels in Maharashtra SHOULD play Marathi songs
This petition had 9 supporters
It has been noticed that no Marathi Songs are being played by any of the private Radio channels. Being in Maharashtra or any state & earning handsome revenues from the local listeners, I feel it is the moral responsibility of the channels to play songs of the local language. Also there is no shortage of good songs in Marathi. Old Songs are meaningful & melodious & New Songs are trendy & musical too. Then why this step treatment towards Marathi Songs.
We are not politicians who are rooting for this but common middle class peeople who love listening to these songs. A few hours every day can be used for paying Marathi Songs. Infact in each state this rule should be made compulsory.
I remember in 2010 when Mr. Balasaheb Thackeray was alive, he had warned the private radio channels about the same but then due to his ill health & later death & due to noone following up on this, it was totally ignored by everyone. Today after 7 years, situation is still the same. Can this be changed? Marathi songs are heard & enjoyed by people of all languages due to its melody & because the language is easy to understand, so expecting everyone to support us in this. If this is not controlled today, tomorrow it will happen in other states too & regional songs will soon disappear. So lets get together India & ask for a change of policy.
