Discontinue Domicile requirement for MBBS/BDS seats in Maharashtra

DMER has implemented a rule that students seeking admissions in medical colleges in Maharashtra under 85% state quota should be a Domicile citizen of Maharashtra and also should have done 10th and 12th from a Maharashtra school. The Domicile rule was stayed ladt year but again implemented this year. This rule will affect a number of students. There are number of students in the cities like Pune, Mumbai etc whose parents being working professionals migrated and settled in Maharashtra in last year's and are currently not having any stake in their native states. These type of students will be left with the option of competing for 15%seats nationwide and will be denied if the the fair and equal chance for admission. They will be denied a Domicile as they have yet not completed 15yrs in the state. I would request the competent authorities to make these rules flexible and instead of Domicile use only bonafiBo rule so that students who completed 10th and 12th standard from Maharashtra will be eligible for admission.
