Prime Minister of India
Shri Narendra Modi Ji,

Sub: Declare "PLANT A TREE TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE" as the 'NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROGRAM OF INDIA'

In the wake of urbanization, we have witnessed rapid deforestation, depletion of green cover and destruction of vast stretches of trees in rural and urban landscapes alike. India's concrete cities are becoming heat islands. Trees, lakes and open spaces replaced by concrete roads, Glass surfaced structured buildings, Large amounts of Motor Vehicles, Air conditioners and Refrigerators in urban area's increased high level of temperature, air pollution and toxic gases. Effects of such activities have had far ranging consequences in our lives.

Climate Change is one such consequence that is plaguing the world right now, and while many of us are only aware about it and talk about it, there is much that we, as individuals, can contribute towards bringing about a positive change.

Remember, we are the first generation to feel the impact of Climate Change and the Last generation that can do something about it. Temperatures are rising at an alarming rate of upto 46.5 in Raigad, Maharashtra. The death toll due to heatwave stood at more than 2300 from last 2 years in India.

We need forests. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air, helps to keep environment cool and giving fresh strength to our people. We rely on our forests for providing abundant supplies of clean water. Our forests clean our air and fight climate change. They provide habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife. Without our forests, our world would be a vastly different place.

Trees are very important source of cleaning and refreshing air (as they produce oxygen and consume green house gases) by filtering and intercepting the airborne particles, chemicals, toxic gases, reducing heat, absorbing CO2 and other pollutants like sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. Trees acts as natural dustbins to the harmful gases in the environment. Trees are source of natural shadow and cool air and most comfortable than the artificial cooling technologies like fan, coolers, air conditioning, etc. Trees are as much important to our life as food and water. Trees are the source of rain on the earth as they attract clouds which ultimately bring rain.

Trees keep us healthy by lowering the dust levels and pollution levels especially in the urban areas. They prevent us from the respiratory disorders and breathing problems by refreshing air. Life becomes very difficult without trees.

Every citizen should participate and contribute in this program for the healthy future generation, its our duty to plant at least 1 Tree along local streets, State and National highways or residential complex.

Trees are most precious gift to the humanity on the earth from nature for which we must be grateful, give honor and preserve for the mankind wellness.

Shri Prime Minister Modi ji, We seek your personal intervention and support on this issue to declare "PLANT A TREE TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE" as the 'NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROGRAM OF INDIA'.
