Cycling infrastructure in Mumbai

Mumbai is presently facing its worst traffic woes. Commuters are finding it 'hellish' to travel to and from work. The roads are congested and local trains are jam packed. The only way to ease out these woes is by investing in cycling infrastructure. This includes dedicated cycling paths, highways, crossings along with cycle share systems at major railway stations. This is the basic blueprint in how Amsterdam moved from a motor-friendly infrastructure which was causing traffic jams, pollution and even lead to death ( a lot of children) to a green, sustainable and efficient mode of transport.
This is the case seen in all major cities in India like Delhi,Bengaluru,Hyderabad,Chennai,Kolkata etc. Commuters are spending a large chunk of their day in travelling. The local corporations should look to work in synergy with Copehagenize or other urban planners who have achieved great success in Copenhagen - the most bicycle friendly city in the world. The BMC in Mumbai have to collaborate with the world's best and look at cities who have achieved this feat for inspiration.
Cycling is good for health, good for the environment and it can leave a positive legacy for future generations. Cities in the UK,US,China are all looking at building cycling infrastructure where spaces are starved and commuters are suffering despite have multiple modes of public transport.
