According to the Globe and Mail transportation accounts for 45 percent of Montreal's total air pollution. This means we must make a change now. Living in the West Island it is quite difficult to travel by public transport. Public transport is a much more sustainable way to travel as it reduces carbon emissions into the atmosphere. I live roughly a 15-minute drive away from John Abbott yet it takes me around an hour to travel by bus, which is one of the main reasons why I started taking my car every day. I am suggesting that we have more buses from the West Island to the Cegep to encourage students and employees to take public transport more frequently. Too often we are waiting by the bus stop for over 15-20 mins in freezing weather which discourages most of us from taking public transport in the winter. I am asking that we add more routes to the very few buses that we have at the moment. In doing so more students would be encouraged to take public transport which would reduce the number of people taking their cars to school. This is just a small thing we can do to improve the environment and the morality of students and employees.
