People in the city of Des Moines that live in ward 4 on roads that are not the main roads. People who live on roads that do not get plowed by the city until it is too late because the snow is all compacted down and turned to ice. The reason I made this petition was so that people could agree and if they want to sign to make a difference in the city of Des Moines. I know from experience that it is not fun trying to dig neighbors out of the road. I also want the city to know that there are people who live in ward 4 that see this as a huge problem.  
I can relate to this because where I live it is not on a main road that gets plowed first during the winter. Me and my family and friends that I know that live in the area are tired of digging people out of the snow because the street is not plowed right away. This issue makes it hard for people to leave to get to work during the winter if they cannot work from home because of what job they have or just to go to the store to get food for families to eat. When neighbors go out to work or the store they get halfway down the street and get stuck because the snow is too high, or their car loses traction. Then in this situation most of the people that live on the street must come out of their warm houses and go into the chilly weather to get shovels and snowblowers to help someone out of the snow.  
One thing the city says about this issue is that there is not enough money to plow the streets that are not main roads in ward 4. This can be a problem one day with people getting hurt because the city will not come and plow until the neighborhood streets are ice.
