As musicians who are actively involved in the local music scene, (the people who keep the music scene alive in Derry all year round whether there are international lights and cameras or not); We would like to express our consternation and extreme disappointment at the Council’s stance in their outlined procedure for entertainment provision at the Clipper Festival. Specifically that preference will be afforded to those who are prepared (forced by Hobson’s Choice) to work for nothing.

* All other sub-industries are being paid the appropriate rate

* All of the council members involved in running the event certainly aren’t working for less/nothing

Why are the talented people who are ultimately responsible for the provision and quality of entertainment being treated as if their contribution to the event is worth less than everyone else?

We do not ask that we are treated better than other participants but ask that we are not treated any worse.
