Derek Keating TD: Apologise for discriminatory statement made in Dail (Dec. 12th)
Lone parent families suffer the highest rates of deprivation and poverty than any other sector in Ireland. We believe the negative stereotyping of our families result in us being seen as the "undeserving poor". We expect leadership from those fortunate enough to be in positions of political power. Deputy Keating's remarks were not only damaging but were also factually incorrect. His statements help perpetuate the prejudice and discrimination our families experience. We call on him to apologise for his comments and refrain from making further ill thought out prejudiced remarks.
