I have been in touch with Derbyshire Council over the past few months to try and get a safer crossing on the A6 just outside Young Explorer’s Day Nursery (The Old Road, Greenaway Lane junction)
As many of you know this is a truly awful junction when in a car, but when you are a pedestrian attempting to cross this road, it is near impossible.
With the new cycle path in full swing there is an influx of more pedestrians & cyclists. We also have Audley Care which is now in its final phase meaning more elderly residents who wish to cross. Greenaway Workshop which is a small registered charity which provides adults with long term health conditions with occupation, they use the public transport on a daily basis and need to cross this road to get to their workplace. Not forgetting Darley Dale Primary and Young Explorer’s – our children have to cross here daily, whether this is to attend morning/afterschool club or simply get to their education.
I feel this crossing is essential to our community. There may not have been a ‘serious’ accident here – but is this really what needs to happen before action is taken?
I ask our council to please please please take notice of the community and this petition and install us all a crossing.
