VICKIE MARIS started this petition to Derbyshire Council

20’s Plenty for Heath

We started this campaign in 2017 but are not giving up & recently have received strong support from the parish council & Heath primary school- so here we are again- please re-sign this petition as the original has expired.

The village roads where our children play and walk to school are too fast. Slack Lane past the main school entrance has become a shortcut for commuters to reach the M1. Parking outside school is poor and parents are forced to use Heather Avenue and Bracken Avenue making crossing visibility poor.

The difference between a traffic incident at 20mph & 30mph can mean life or death.

We are campaigning to make Heath a 20mph zone. Please sign our petition to show your support, and keep the streets safe.

Please support Heath, including Slack Lane, Heath Road, Heather Avenue, Bracken Avenue, Bramble Close, Fern Close, Moorland Drive, Gorse Bank and Lilac Close adopting a 20mph limit.

Derbyshire County Council has already implemented 20mph zones in other villages in Derbyshire and they have been proven to reduce accident rate and casualty severity. With enough support Heath can achieve the same.  This could be the change that prevents a serious accident.

20mph limits are a huge help to children to reach appropriate play places like parks and friend’s gardens. It helps us grow healthy children, good at sports, who can concentrate better, with confidence, initiative and knowledge of their local streets.

6-11 year olds cannot reliably see, or accurately judge speeds over 20mph.

Lower speed limits encourage independent travel to school and in setting up exercise habits for life.
