We believe that it is completely unjustified for Valery Gerviev's contract to be terminated due to his connection with President Putin. At no point did Gergiev publicly declare his acceptance of Russian aggression against Ukraine, which began in February this year, and it is therefore unacceptable that his engagement with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra should be terminated. The decision was made exclusively from the political, not the artistic aspect, which should be the most important. Therefore, we demand the annulment of the decision to terminate the contract with the MPO.
