Medicaid is denying services even though Leukemia patient meets all requirements!
My husband Eric Cancino was diagnosed with Leukemia on July 01, 2018. Eric’s treatment is chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant. He was approved for Medicaid on July 1, 2018. He had to stop working because he was hospitalized and we were able to qualify for Medicaid. After 5 months and well into the process of his treatment, Medicaid sends a letter of termination because of his legal status. My husband has legal status in the USA he was given a U-Visa because of a violent crime committed against him 10 years ago in Aurora, Colorado. Eric was robbed and beaten severely and as a result of that attack he lost his right eye. Now, he is going through another battle with Leukemia. Medicaid cancelled my husband’s medical benefits in the middle of his treatment. Now, what? Where do we go from here? Medicaid keeps rejecting our claim based on non-immigration status, I am a US citizen. My husband cannot leave the country as a restriction of his U-Visa. He cannot work because he is disabled. He did get approved for Social Security Benefits which begin in January 2019. Medicaid denies my husband coverage with him still in the hospital and in the middle of his treatment!! Please help!! What do we do??
