GAINSBOROUGH SAVES MONEY AND LIVES FOR NHS
Mar 8, 2017 — Dear Sir/ Madam,
I have been under the care of Gainsborough foundation since the 25th September 2016.
I have found their services the best around and the most supportive people I have possibly ever met. And, being a qualified nurse myself, I have met all sorts of people.
I have been an alcoholic since I was 16 years old I am now 27. Somehow, I managed to get a degree and struggled on, on my own. Early last year I got in to a whole load of trouble- 3 times arrested in 5 months, lost my nursing job twice (please google Louise Eyles) through shame to say it- it went public, lost my home, lost my driving licence, lost my family, I lost everything. I was hospitalised 3 times last year through suicide attempts. The worst I took so many paracetamol I was told I should be dead and kept in Hinchingbrooke Hospital for 4 days. This was all down to alcohol- I had no support.
During that horrendous time I went to inclusion, I tried AA nothing worked. I went to my GP for help and then he suggested Gainsborough.
The 25th of September is when my life changed. I started my detox on the 26th. They made sure I was safe and had a person with me for 10 days. They checked on me everyday for that 10 days and delivered my tablets. Since then I see Nicky weekly. Sometimes that appointment on every Tuesday at 3pm is the only thing that keeps me sober through the week. Nicky has been my life saver.
Iv only met Nick once on the first meeting to asses me. I was humbled by his kindness- that he would want to help a person like me,- I understand what's they are there for but alcohol makes you feel so alone.
The Gainsborough foundation have been/ still are, and hopefully will carry on being amazing.
I don't know who I'm writing to, I don't know what impact this email will have however, if you or a family member or friend are ever unlucky enough to be or become an alcoholic, you will need services like Gainsborough. They breed hope, they breed guidance, they breed life back into a person who's lost their way.
They saved my life and are still saving it.
