Joey Maloba started this petition to Dept of Education-Minister of Education

The Department of Education's Grade 8 online application has failed many South African learners & parents. To date a majority of our children have not be placed in High Schools. A few days from schools reopening on the 12th January 2022, learners have not been placed by the districts or schools, no uniforms and stationery bought. Some have been placed in schools outside their residential radius or feeder zones. Should children pass schools in their neighbourhood to go to schools further from their homes to access education? Is this fair on learners? What is the point of submitting proof of residences? What is the point of applying on line? What is the purpose of feeder zones? Learners & parents have been left frustrated by the unprocessed applications & in dispair. Should our capable & eager to learn children who worked hard to pass Gr 7 with excellence remain at home unplaced & their right to education taken away? The children have worked hard & passed yet failed by the department. They are stressed by not being accepted into High Schools.

The Department of Education has a duty to ensure every child has access to education & their constitutional right is protected not infringed upon.

The Department of Education must place every child before schools reopening on the the 12th January 2022 in their preferred schools they have applied for. Parents have made every endeavour by applying on time.
