James Burton started this petition to Department of Veterans Affairs and

Veterans have to go to the Veterans Affairs for many things including but not limited to healthcare. When a veteran has an appointment at these facilities they have to take time off work or have their loved ones drive them to the appointments. If the Veterans Affairs offered some form of after hours care or even made the appointment windows later in the day so the veterans could work and then get to the appointment after they get off work or their loved ones got off work then it would be beneficial to the veterans and their families. When I a veteran has to miss work to make appointments the employers usually don’t care if they miss work due to whatever reason and they will lose their jobs due to this. In return the veteran loses their job they then begin to fall behind on paying bills, then the mental stress of not being able to pay bills comes. Most times their spouse will divorce them as well while all of this is going on which adds more stress to the veterans in need. In return the veteran doesn’t keep the appointments and continues to work and continues to struggle with many issues, or the veteran makes the appointments and loses their job and commits suicide due to all the added stress that is bestowed upon them. If we could make a change I feel that less veterans will be homeless and less veterans would commit suicide.
