In Metro Manila, there are a large number of people with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens as well as pregnant women. It is a concern that these people are having a hard time transferring from one place to another due to inaccessible and crowded public transports. There are times when it would be dangerous for them to enter jeepneys as well as other types of transportation. They have a hard time just getting on vehicles with high platform. It is also concerning that there are public transportations who do not prioritize the wellbeing of the aforementioned people.

For this reason, we request the Department of Transportation and Communications Philippines (DOTC) to provide Metro Manila with a public transportation  that will be able to cater the needs of senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women. We recommend the imposing of Paratransit vehicles that was originated in North America. This transportation vehicles has its own route to pick-up and discharge stations and are equipped with wheelchair lifts or ramps for easy entrance and exit of passengers. An alternative for Paratransit is upgrading selected PUVs into a well-designed vehicle intended for senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women. All vehicles selected should have medical aids ready.
