All the disciplines in radiography which include nuclear medicine, ultrasound and radiotherapy have the same NQF level as diagnostic radiographers and we are not being payed the same .
The service provided by diagnostic radiographers differs substantially from the subdisciplines in the following ways:
- diagnostic radiography is an essential service
- it is a baseline service
- 24 hour service, 365 days a year shift workers
- multimodality based (e.g CT scanning, MRI, theatre, screening, general radiography, cath lab) and service is not confined to a fixed site.

It affects every patient and clinical service provider. In the diagnostic team everyone plays a role and every role is equally essential.

Diagnostic radiography services are essential and specialized to aid the clinical process and should be appropriately remunerated.
