Karen Hancock started this petition to Department of Planning and Environment and

Hotham House is back on the agenda to be demolished and this will occur if the existing development proposal by President Private Hospital developers is accepted by DPE.

The proposal is to build a massive 3 storey multi level facility over the current landholdings which incorporates the demolition of 2 existing homes, No 2 & No 4 Bidurgal Ave Kirrawee.

The planned intrusion into Bidurgal Ave, a quiet residential zone with a narrow roadway, housing children and elderly, is simply not able to support such a significant business expansion. This small street will be expected to accommodate a substantial increase in vehicle and foot traffic by way of hundreds of construction workers, staff, patients and visitors, all competing for minimal free street parking during the construction period and then later once the facility is finished, when the only other available facility parking is ‘pay to park’.

Service providers such as lawn mowing or medical carers for local residents will not be able to park their vehicles nearby which will result in confusion, mental distress and disruption to residents and to the ongoing availability of such necessary services.

Such an immense structure/business operation will significantly invade the privacy entitlement of neighbouring residents, ongoing, 24/7.

Noise and vehicle pollution will automatically increase.

Existing Hotham Road users will be exposed to an even greater safety risk when entering from President Ave or Bidurgal Ave, and many may have already experienced a ‘near miss’ in this already congested intersection and arterial feeder road in order to reach the northern side of the railway bridge.

This quiet and friendly Shire area was never intended to sustain such an elaborate expansion of business operations; is already a significant safety risk for local vehicle traffic; residents service providers should not be compromised by not being able to park nearby; and residents should not be subjected to invasion of privacy, thereby creating potential mental health issues and/or physical safety concerns as a result of this proposal.

Please assist these residents to maintain their peace, tranquility and personal safety entitlement and vote against this proposal.
