Mining-affected communities together with workers bear the greatest costs of mining and communities are largely excluded from benefits. Colonial dispossession of land to make way for mining continues. We must support the struggles of communities to put an end this system and for recognition in practice and in law of communities right to decide on whether mining occurs and be part of the decision-making to ensure it is occurs in a manner that benefits communites.
