I want Department of Children and Families to stop blocking my ability to work.

On March 10, 2005, I was arrested for pushing my then abusive boyfriend off me. This is after I lost our son due to getting beat up while 8 months pregnant. I went to court on a Simple Assault (Domestic) charge in April of 2005 which I pled no contest to not realizing that it like pleading guilty. The judge gave me a verdict of Adjudication Withheld. I went on to get married, have 2 beautiful children and go through a nasty divorce and custody battle. My ex husband made false reports that came back unfounded and brought this charge up. We ended up receiving joint custody. Needing to advance my skills I went back to school. I obtained my Emergency Medical Technicians certification , Associates degree , and Bachelor's of Science degree in human services. I went through my background checks for school with no problems only after graduating and 64000+ in debt was I told I couldn't work. I applied for exceptions and D.C. F denied it with a letter saying I was ineligible for hire or to volunteer . I took it to court with Tallahassee and the judge agreed with me but D.C.F still will not allow me to work. I went to the 19th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's office who looked into my background and is allowing me to learn new skills as an investigative intern but it isn't paid. All I want to do is to take care of my children and be a productive member of the community. Please sign my petition. Thank you
