Stretching from Cagayan to Quezon, the Sierra Madre mountain ranges is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. Being coined as the Backbone of Luzon, it acts as nature's shield from calamities especially from storm surges and typhoons coming from the Pacific Ocean. 

With the vast land and extensive greenery,  Sierra Madre became home for the country's most protected species. It also includes national parks, marine reserves, and protected landscapes, a sanctuary for flora and fauna. Thus, crucial in the conservation of biodiversity.

Given its essence, the Sierra Madre is still facing the threats of destruction. With the rampant deforestation and construction of large groundworks, the the home of beauty and diversity as well as nature's shield is on the verge of ravage. 

This is a wake-up call that even nature's shield needs protecting. Let us preserve the our greatest defense, as well as its beauty and diversity.
