Why do we pay an extra $100 dollars for courses we already paid for?

The goal of this petition is for UBC to stop using additional online course subscriptions as mandatory marks. As students we already pay tuition, textbooks, and other course-related costs, so why would we have to pay an additional $100 on top of these fees. These online course subscriptions such as MyEconLab shouldn't be mandatory for marks, as they are produced by third party companies. Furthermore professors have the option of making their own online quizzes on Canvas which would mitigate student fees. Additionally these online course subscriptions make it so that students are unable to sell their textbooks after a semester, which would potentially save a great deal of money over a 4 year degree. Overall this change would greatly benefit UBC students, especially for those struggling to pay tuition. Sign this petition to make UBC take notice!
