Pasia Fomby started this petition to Department of Education

Pasia Fomby, a student at Tapestry Charter High School, was involved in an altercation at school while trying to defend a friend being attacked by two people. The situation escalated into a brawl. School administration placed Pasia in a room with the same student she was initially involved with in the altercation. Pasia asked to be released from the room to avoid any further altercations with the same girl. School administration continued to ignore her, as if they had no knowledge of the sensitive issue at hand. School administration finally moved Pasia to a separate room, isolated and locked away from her friends, who were also involved in the altercation but were also in the same room together as if Pasia was the aggressor in the altercation.

Pasia has been ACCUSED of fighting the girl with a metal trash bin while in the room but Pasia asked school administration multiple times to be removed from the room. (She has been in a previous fight where she was suspended last school year). In this situation, Pasia was told by school administration she is unable to attend prom and graduation or they would just remove her from the school altogether.

Pasia has a hearing scheduled so we are requesting signatures in support of the school lowering the punishment for this student. Many of the other students involved in this altercation have been involved in previous fights and only Pasia was unfairly singled out, not even the main students involved in the altercation received the same punishment as Pasia.

Pasia is a good student and actively participates in school activities and fundraisers. We understand that consequences should be held but the consequences for this student should not be this severe. We are requesting this decision be overturned, as Pasia has worked hard and would like to attend her senior prom and graduate with her class this upcoming year.
