Stop Raising The Price of College Tuition

On March 22, 2017, the California State University, Board of Trustees approved a 5% tuition increase which is set to start during the Fall Semester of 2017.
With the tuition increase being passed, undergraduate students will see an increase of $270 and graduate students will see an increase of $438. Although the CSU Board of Trustees believes that the majority of students will not be affected by the tuition increase, due to the assistance of financial aid, many students do not get enough financial aid currently to pay for the existing cost of tuition.
That is the total amount of the existing student debt accumulated by college students in the United States. As the 5% tuition increase is set to bring in $77.5 million to put towards the CSU's $156 million shortfall, students are having to put themselves in debt, while watching their money not be invested in infrastructure for their education.
As students of the California State University system, we believe that education shouldn't involve a student amassing thousands of dollars in debt before even having their first full time job. We the undersigned are calling for a repeal in the latest tuition increase and are urging Gov. Jerry Brown to allocate more resources to the universities of California.
Rather than a college education being a dream for some, its time we made it into a reality for all.
If you believe that college should be affordable for each student and that students deserve a chance to be heard, we urge that you please sign this petition.
