Stabilize Sexual Education in Today’s Generation to Lessen Unwanted Pregnancies
What comes first to your mind when you heard the word ‘EDUCATION’? Going to school? Learning? Passing?
One of the Filipino problems is the Lack of Education. Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” Education is very important to everyone but some see it as nothing. The lack of sexual education in the Philippines is a large issue. The Philippines has one of the highest adolescent birth rates among the ASEAN Member States. It is the responsibility of schools to educate their students about sex and pregnancy because not all parents can discuss it with their children. Nowadays schools don’t focus on sexual education as they thought students won’t listen or undesirable things may be running through the minds of students. As part of sexual education, teachers, professors, or even parents should have the ability to discuss it comfortably with teens.
Sex education should be strengthened in today’s generation as teenage and unwanted pregnancies continue to rise. Teenagers nowadays should be well-educated about sex and pregnancy. Even adults should have proper knowledge in sexual education because some families are large and the income of the parents is not enough to support their needs. Without proper knowledge of sex education, it can lead to unhealthy pregnancies, poverty, and overpopulation. Sex education will help our country reduce teenage and unwanted pregnancies, and prevent overpopulation.
