Archelle Pecson started this petition to Department of Education and

Pediatrics have suggested for schools and universities to start classes at 9 am or later to give students enough time to have enough sleep. As a grade 11 student, studying at a university far from home, having 7:30 am class until 5:00 pm every week is a struggle and unhealthy for my well-being. Our home is an hour away from the university and commuting with public buses, jeepneys and tricycles arw my only way to go to school. I always encounter heavy traffics whenever travelling. I usually got home by 7pm feeling exhausted and worn out. I barely have enough sleep for studying and doing school projects, performance tasks. Having 7 in the morning classes, it only leaves me less than 8 hours of sleep. Its ironic how school teaches us about having enough time to sleep to be healthy but also being the cause of not having enough sleep. I believe students should not be stressing out at this very young age because of school because its a fun place to be, learning is fun when you are enjoying what you do and the environment. Schools should also be concerned of their students health. Stress and lack of sleep can trigger mental disorders. Students deserve sleep :)) in conclusions, lets make schools less toxic and a fun place for students to be by giving students a healthy school schedule.
