School should start after Labor Day so students have a longer summer
Students want to enjoy their summer outdoors in the warm weather when it is appropriate to play. Our students start school during August and they lose one of the best months to play and enjoy their childhood or teenage years. School normally ends in May or June when weather is still shifty as in it could be super cold one day, rainy the next, or just average. We should start our schooling after Labor Day like they did in the past instead of taking good summer months away from students who look forward to it. My fellow colleagues are trying to help push this message locally in hopes of pushing our message further to more people and draw the attention of the Department of Education and let them know we want a change. We hope you will agree this is the best choice for our students so we can push this to the Department of Education and make it a reality for students to have a better summer.
