Save Toowong Creek

Approval has been granted for QASMT to build near the banks of the Toowong Creek. This riparian zone is the last of its kind in the Brisbane western suburbs. It is the only vegetated corridor connecting wildlife from Mt Cootha to the Brisbane River. This area is a nesting site for short neck freshwater turtles, water dragons, ringtail possums and vulnerable to extinction grey-headed flying foxes. Multiple species of fauna will also be impacted by loss of habitat including a 300-year-old aboriginal scar tree where multiple Aboriginal artefacts where found around the scared site. QASMT destruction has already started, displacing a nesting threatened powerful owl family.

A heavily flawed ecological report was used in the development of this project which misrepresented the ecological impact it would have. Please add your name to the petition against this destruction which will be submitted to the Minister for Education and the Minister for Infrastructure.
