The city that joined millions of cultures across the world is now being trashed, looted, and set ablaze. Is this how we get our point across? Is this how we teach the younger generations to get their point across? What good are all these displays of violence if violence is what we are aiming to stop? Fighting violence with violence only leads to a never-ending cycle of more violence. Instead, we should be aiming our resources on reforming the education system. The next generation should be taught how to respect EVERYONE, regardless of their skin color, background, religion etc. Our education system has failed us. We will not be able to change the minds of previous generations but we can change the minds of the generations to come.

Not only are the methods of education outdated, they omit the teachings of basic principles like the difference between right and wrong, kindness, and respect for others.Teachers who have the power to shape minds and create bright students are underpaid and disrespected.

It’s time for a change.
