Provide practical learning for students to aid future employment

The current construction skills shortage has meant on average 250,000 homes need to be built each year to meet the current housing demands. However, construction retirement predictions are increasing yearly with 22% of the workforce being over fifty.
With the housing demand increasing, nearly half of construction companies have admitted they do not have time to provide training yet the same number of employers are currently struggling to fill qualified and experienced positions. But why? less than 4 in 10 students do not see the construction industry as a future career prospect as the education system has stressed the need for a degree to succeed.
How can we help?
Think Big Developments believe this skills shortage can be solved by:
- Providing practical project based learning through our housing developments to provide students with the correct skills, knowledge and experience which in turn will reduce training for employers
- Inspiring and educating students on future career prospects within the industry through interactive workshops and Q&A sessions before choosing college courses and A Levels
- Provide summer internships, work placements and employment opportunities
Think Big believe this can be possible if the government provide us with access to schools and colleges, enabling us to inspire, teach and educate. We need your support to help us provide a better future for younger generations and to finally solve this housing crisis.
