To all the seniors in the Class of 2020 (and also to teachers, parents, and any students at all), we need to pressure colleges to push back their acceptance deadlines from May 1st, to June 1st.

Due to coronavirus, we cannot visit campuses to see if we would be a good fit for the school. Let's face it, online virtual tours are not enough. Nothing can replace actually being at a school and taking in your surroundings.

Most of our parents are losing money because of the coronavirus. This makes committing to an expensive 4 year college a difficult decision to make right now. If we postponed decisions to a more comfortable time, it would be easier and less stressful on our parents financially.

Due to these reasons alone, it is very hard to make those college decisions that will affect us for the rest of our lives.

Some schools have even cracked to the pressure and moved back their individual decision dates on their own merit. According to the Washington Post, "Among more than 100 schools offering a one-month respite from the traditional May 1 decision day are George Mason University in Northern Virginia, Oregon State University and Williams College in Massachusetts." We need other colleges to follow suit.

We only have 30 days to get as many names on this petition as possible, so please share this to all of your fellow seniors. Whether or not your college decision has been affected by the coronavirus or not, please sign this in hopes of making a change.
