More on this petition:
Nashwaak valley elementary students that receive after school care from The Little Treehouse On The Killarney are dropped off 270 metres from the day care. They have to walk on a 90km, accident prone highway; with almost no shoulder of road to walk on in the winter. They have walked through windy snowy days with no visibility. Accidents occur in this stretch of road all the time. This is unacceptable. Next year there may be a child with cerebral palsy and definitely will be one (maybe two) students with Autism Spectrum Disorder expected to do this dangerous walk. Our children deserve to be safe, they deserve better than this. 270 metre difference will not cost the government any extra money. There is also two big company’s in between the drop off and day care that have large amounts of traffic of paving and transportation trucks, these truck drivers agree that the children walking on this road are in danger. Please help us keep our children safe from harm and show us your support! There has been a petition done for this before a few years ago, and the department of education has looked into the matter before and denied the change. Since than, we have gathered photos and videos of the danger and are receiving new and more support from parents of future Nashwaak Valley students.
