MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS
Students are always being ignored when they voice what they are going through. There are times when students are in need of comfort and help from their parents and teachers but get ignored and scolded instead for “overreacting”. Older generations often invalidate younger people's feelings, saying that nothing is wrong with them and it will soon go away if they pay no attention to it. These lead to students thinking that what they are going through is normal as many experience it, they have little knowledge about it and they do not get professional help. The mental health of the students are barely being paid attention in school and even at home. Loads of schoolwork with insufficient time, pressure from parents, network issues, lack of motivation, lack of sleep and more may cause students to get burdened, stressed, depressed and many other symptoms of mental illnesses. It would also be the best for everyone to gain information about mental health if schools provide podcasts, seminars and regular consultations to students, as well as help break the stigma against people with mental illness.
Why are we doing this petition and what are our goals?
- For people, especially parents, to pay more attention to the mental health of their children and be more aware of how it mentally, emotionally and physically affect their school performance and daily routine.
- Through this, we want schools to pay more attention to the well-being of their students and at least give them care or provide them monthly consultations with professionals.
- For everyone to know more about mental health, mental illnesses, causes, effects and factors of being mentally unstable.
