With the undeniable existence of the rape culture which permeates university campuses, our government is complicit by continuing to fund these institutions. The call for action is now! We demand that all colleges and universities which receive Federal Student Aid be required to revise their curriculum to include at least one mandatory Women and Gender Studies course in all of their undergraduate programs.
Recent studies have shown up to a 44% decrease in rape occurrences following the administration of women empowerment programs (https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2014/04/empowerment-program-greatly-decreases-incidence-of-rape-study-finds.html). Requiring the completion of a Women and Gender Studies course will surely serve as an excellent consciousness and awareness raising tool for all genders and will serve to diminish the rape culture which has plague and persisted in our University systems for generations.
We demand that the President of the United States and ultimately the Department of Education require curriculum revisions within one fiscal year in order for these institutions to be eligible to maintain their eligibility for Federal Student Aid!
