It has now become part of our daily life to wear masks in public. For most of us it only causes a problem when you keep forgetting it and have to go back to the car to get one. Imagine though for a moment, what it would be like to be deaf in this situation. To be unable to see people's lips when they are speaking so you can read them and understand what they are saying. It has become more important than ever to be more aware and caring of the people around us right now.

I have believed for a long time that sign language should be taught in schools but I am now finally doing something about it. I know that we currently have a large amount of work for children to study but in all honesty, how much of the things you were taught do you use or find helpful today? BSL is a major part of life for so many people and by starting to teach children in school we will be helping to build a much better world for the generations to come. And it's not just for the deaf community either, how many times have you been in public and its so noisy you can't hear the person next to you. Now imagine if you were both taught BSL at school. There are so many situations where knowing sign language can help us all. My hope is that sign language will soon be as common as standard verbal language.

Please help me by signing and sharing this petition and if you can, join me by spending a few minutes a day to learn BSL from the many videos on the Internet.
