the AACPS official instagram account released as of today (january 6th, 2021) a modified school  year calendar for the 2022-23 school year. the previous year, our summer break lasted from june 18th to september 9th. per the modified school year calendar, our summer break has been extensively cut short to lasting from june 21st to august 30th.

the AACPS board of education has taken far too many faults in this month alone, and generally across the board (pun intended). after this week’s winter storm, schools were re-opened on hazardous conditions that put the safety of students, faculty, bus drivers (or drivers in general) at risk. the board has yet to address the fact that over HALF of AAC hasn’t been properly plowed yet. 

as a fellow AACPS student in high school, these are my last years to make those lasting memories with the people of my hometown and the AACPS board of education has made school increasingly less appealing in their inconsistent and inconsiderate decision-making. giving us kids a long summer to look forward towards would be nice in thought of the last closer to 3 years in COVID. please hear out those who crate the majority of your people like you claim to do, AACPS board of education. #makethecallbob
