Increase student education on topics that are important as future adults
Many of my friends are about to turn 18, yet none of us have the knowledge to live as an adult. We are all lacking education about basic fundamental topics, such as taxes, loans, mortgages, etc. Over 57% of American Citizens are not sure which tax bracket they fall in and many of those citizens are 25-35 year olds. We need to provide education on these topics to ensure that future adults are aware of how to file taxes and pay off mortgages.
The Department of Education should mandate that schools are forced to provide education about these topics. One possible solution is to have schools make juniors in high school take this mandatory class that will help them in the future. This class would include topics that are essential to know about as future adults. Most business teachers can teach this class and can even provide their own experiences about taxes and the do's and don'ts.
