When a school goes into lockdown, each classroom is pretty much a bunch of sitting ducks.  If an attacker gets through the door, fighting back is your only option.  To provide a large deal of protection, I believe that every classroom should be armed with a fire extinguisher.  Imagine an attacker enters a school, and a lock down is called.  While lining up against the wall, the teacher could easily get a fire extinguisher ready for firing.  If the attacker enters the room, they’ll have the white smoke in their eyes, nose, and his lungs.  Their lungs will quickly be filled with CO2, causing an inability to breathe, and their throat will be filled with a gas cold enough to cause freezer burn.  This should incapicitate the attacker long enough to disarm the attacker or knock out them out with the metal object in hand.  To top it all off, fire extinguishers are only around 40 dollars each, making it approximately a 2 dollar donation for each student per classroom.  In my opinion, its a cheap safety measure that will leave classrooms far from defenseless against an assailant.
